Conditions for temporary residence registration for foreign investors in Ho Chi Minh City
Temporary residence cards for foreign investors are issued to investors, shareholders who contribute capital, purchase shares or contributed capital in enterprises in Vietnam. Temporary residence card allows foreign investors to reside in Vietnam for a period of time, valid in place of visa/visa.
Currently, the conditions for foreign investors to be granted a temporary residence card in Vietnam are:
The value of the investment capital contribution in Vietnam is at least 3 billion VND, the investor will be granted a temporary residence card for up to 3 years.
In case the investment value is from 50 to less than 100 billion VND, the investor will be granted a temporary residence card with a term not exceeding 5 years.
If the value of the investment is VND 100 billion or more or invests in the industries eligible for investment incentives, and the geographical areas where investment incentives are decided by the Government, they can be granted a temporary residence card with a maximum term of up to 10 years.
Since this is a new regulation that takes effect, foreign investors need to consider the value of their investment capital contribution to meet the conditions for granting a temporary residence card. If you are not eligible for a temporary residence card, you will have to pay a monthly visa extension fee. This is a significant expense when investors do business in Vietnam.
